Top 5 Dream Roles
Top 5 Dream Roles (Broadway)
- Eponine Thenardier ; Les Miserables
Les Mis was the first Broadway show I ever saw, Celia Keenan Bolger was my Eponine. I can really relate to Eponine’s unrequited love affair (especially at the time I saw the show). The desperation and pain you hear in her songs is gracefully conveyed and I think she’s one of Broadway’s truest souls.
- Maureen Johnson; RENT
I saw RENT on tour in Toronto, having been a fan of the Film for some time. Maureen sticks out for me in that show because of the way her confidence barely wavers. She’s strong willed and quirky [Over the Moon.. honestly.] I relate to Maureen’s determination, her take on love and her silliness.
- Heidi; [title of show]
Heidi is a lot like me in that, she’s trying to make it on Broadway. She and I fill a similar niche in our circle of friends. She’s the sassy, determined to succeed, funny lady with great pipes. I have three of those four? When Heidi is faced with the possibility of being replaced, my heart aches for us both.
- Elphaba Throp; Wicked
Though Elphaba insists that she’s the one holding her back, she’s determined to prove herself to be a good, decent person regardless of how she looks. She is hopeful and she works hard. I relate to Elphie’s struggles and her strength in the face of what is wrong/right in the world of Oz.
- Eleanor Dixon; Mannequin Ave.
Mannequin Ave. is the title of my original musical, a work in progress. Without giving too much away, Eleanor is faced with issues of prejudice, identity and self-confidence while ultimately dealing with a great conspiracy. Ellie will no doubt be essentialy based off of myself in some way, which makes her a perfect role for me to play.
